Sikh Warriors

Sikh warriors, often referred to as Khalsa, trace their origins to the late 17th century during a time of political and religious turmoil in India. Sikhism, founded by Guru Nanak in the 15th century, emphasized equality, justice, and devotion to one God. By the time of Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Guru, the Sikh community faced growing oppression under Mughal rule. To protect their faith and community, Guru Gobind Singh established the Khalsa in 1699—a brotherhood of saint-soldiers bound by a strict code of conduct, discipline, and devotion. Members of the Khalsa were tasked with upholding righteousness and defending the oppressed, embodying the dual ideals of spiritual dedication and martial prowess.
